Highlights of Barks & Badges
Check out this cool video posted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department with some highlights from Saturday’s event. If you went, this will refresh your memories. If you missed it, here’s a chance to see a little of what you missed. Maybe next year?
Huge Thanks to Lithia Reno Subura!
Lithia Reno Subaru presented this fantastic donation of $35,079 during the Barks and Badges event on Saturday, June 26th! This is a wonderful donation through their Subaru Share the Love Event . K9 Partners is thrilled and grateful to be a recipient of this money. Without the support of our community and the businesses in the Reno-Sparks area, we would not be able to provide everything needed for our Washoe County K9s to allow them to do the great job they do for the entire county.
Thank you to Chip Ciciovan and his great team at Lithia Reno Subaru and the national Share the Love program from Subaru for supporting our efforts for our K9s. You help to make so much possible for us!

New for Barks and Badges – Kids T-Shirts
In addition to the new edition of 2021 T-shirts for adults, we will have really cute new shirts for the children in all sizes. Take a look at these. Aren’t they the cutest things ever?
You can find these shirts and the adult-sized shirts (pictures not available yet) at the K9 Partners booth at Barkley Ranch this Saturday, June 26.
We will also have the three released K9 mugs for sale. If you haven’t started your collection of our dog Mug Shots, you can do it now.
Remember: All profits from any sales from the booth go to support the training and equipment for our WCSO K9s.
Barks and Badges Happens in One Week !
We are one week away from our annual (except last year) Barks and Badges event. Come out to meet our dogs and get a close up view of our two new K9s, Ava and Odin. Entry to the event is FREE and it’s great for the whole family. We’ll have lots of games for the kids and demonstrations of various scenarios the dogs are asked to handle.
We’ll also have information booths, food trucks, face painting, and other vendors with interesting and unique ideas. A mobile library will also be there along with the Nevada Deportment of Wild Life Bear Dogs.
Check out the list of Vendors to see who will be joining us. We will have a vendor map up toward the end of this week and possibly a schedule.
Bartley Ranch is located off Lakeside Blvd. to the South. Turn left on Bartley Ranch Rd and then right into the entrance to cross the bridge.
Many thanks to our terrific sponsors Lithia Subaru Reno and Consign Furniture for helping to make this event possible.

Promotion for Deputy Van der Wall and retirement for Boomer
From the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
Today Sheriff Balaam retired K9 Boomer after 3 years of service with the WCSO. His retirement comes after his handler, Deputy Samuel Van Der Wall’s recent promotion to Sergeant. Sgt. Van Der Wall and Boomer were assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, which operates in critical drug-trafficking regions. Thank you Boomer for your hard work and service! #ProudSheriff#K9#K9Retirement
K9 Partners wish Sgt. Van Der Wall much success in his new position and happy retirement to Boomer.
Barks and Badges coming on June 26
Hi, all, If you have one of our 2021 calendars, you might notice it says Barks and Badges will be on May 22nd. That was a hoped-for date that didn’t pan out. The park couldn’t open for a large crowd on that date, so the event is now scheduled for June 26th. Just want to clear that up in case you’re confused.
We are definitely a go for the 26th, so mark your calendars and plan to attend this FREE admission event at Bartley Ranch.
We will have our vendor list up soon. We have four food trucks to provide food and drink options. Also, several information booths to help your learn more about our county services. Some of our community first responders will be there.
And we’ll have new K9 shirts (including some for kids) and the Mug Shots for three of our dogs for sale at the K9 Partners’ tent. We have some fun games for the kids to play. Best of all, our K9s will be on site and showing everyone just what they do.
Bring your camera, sunscreen, and sunglasses. It will be a blast!
